Pt 3 with the RN (Otter) and stood by the build of Onslow. Part 3 on Otter and then stood by the build of Onslow as the SAP2. I have had a great life, due in part to the start to my career particularly working with the original Onslow, and the time spent with the guys at Plats in the 70's.

When I left the squadron at the end of 84 I was glad to take my discharge and run like hell. Surprisingly I later followed my time in the Navy with a stint in the Army (RASIGS), then a career?? in the public service. Now 20+ years later and looking back at my time in boats, I can say that it was a period of my life that seems to hold the strongest memories for me, both good and bad.

I only served a short time in the Squadron, but its something I could never forget nor want to. Part 3 on Otway and went over to the west on Orion to get qualified and that's when I found out the meaning to life. At the end of a day when you needed your buddies they where always there besides where could they go its a bit hard to hide on the old tin cans. But at home they were and a home they will always remain. If anyone from the old crew I served with would like to contact me please feel free or anyone else.

Served in boats from 86 to 2000, when I thought I would try the other side and gives skimmers a go. Got my buttons while serving on Hobart (one plus I guess). My time in boats is with out doubt the highlight of my career, and after 21 years in the mob, I always remember the people and the level of professionalism that I am still to find in the fleet. When talking with other submariners, one can't help getting that homesick feeling.

Left in '94 after SWSC sucked the fun out of me for a year.  But the other 5 years were a blast.  Great friends, great runs ashore and many seatime memories.  Now an exercise physiologist in Sydney repairing broken people after car or work accidents.  My spare time is spent as an instructor on TS Sydney trying to show the cadets there is more to the RAN than the grey funnel line and that being a submariner is a much better option.

I still advise younger people in the Navy now, that submarine service is the most demanding but best thing that you will ever do.
