KRI Nanggala

The SAA National Executive, on behalf of our members, has sent a letter of condolence to the Indonesian Navy on the tragic news of the loss of KRI Nanggala. I am sure that all members of the Trade will feel the loss and that are thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones left behind.

QLD Branch AGM

The next General Meeting/ AGM will be help at 1030 24th July 2021. It will be held at Coorparoo RSL, Holdsworth Street, Coorparoo.
The Committee is up for election and nominations are called to be with the secretary by 31 May 2021.

Two more of our brethren have commenced their eternal patrol. LSROSM Michael 'Jelly' Barnes (13 Dec 2020) and ABCKSM Thomas Liddane (18 Dec 2020) will be missed by all. R.I.P.

Submariners crossing the Bar

It is our sad duty to advise that two submariners have recently crossed the bar and are on their eternal patrol.

Bill Clayton advised:
Hi All , With much sadness as President of SAAQLDinc that I have been informed by Rosemary Thompson that late yesterday Kerry Thompson a good Submariner, Association member and friend went on Eternal Patrol.

When funeral arrangements have been finalised by the Family, a notice will go out to let you know more.

SAA QLD Christmas Party

The Queensland SAA Branch are having a Christmas Lunch at the home of Mrs Ann Wood 25 McConnell St, Bulimba on 06 December 2020 1100 -1500. All members and their families are welcome. Bring a plate and any alcohol requirements. Raffles prizes will be available if lucky.

Announcement from Bob Trotter SAA President

It is with deep sorrow that I advise you that our Patron Vice Admiral Ian Donald George MacDougall AC AFSM died at 1945 AEST 1 July 2020. His passing was peaceful with his sons Hamish and Fergus by his side.

His was a life well lived and one that will live on in the memories of many across the Nation, especially for all submariners and their families.
I will be sending a condolence card to Ian's family on behalf of all SAA Members. When known, I will advise funeral arrangements.
